There is compelling evidence that Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) reduces the risk of heterosexually acquired HIV infection in men by approximately 60%. MJAP recognizes the fact that VMMC provides only partial protection, and therefore provides this as part of a comprehensive HIV prevention package which includes: the provision of HIV testing and counseling services; treatment for sexually transmitted infections; the promotion of safer sex practices; the provision of condoms and promotion of their correct and consistent use. MJAP supports provision of VMMC services at Makerere University hospital in Kampala. In addition to these static sites, MJAP supports VMMC outreaches at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) and Kyambogo Universities in Kampala. These strategies have increased access to VMMC services and as a result, the number of individuals offered VMMC increased drastically.
